How human are we?

Consciousness manifested itself on Earth long before our history books began to be written. When we embark on a journey to our roots, it doesn't end with our physical ancestors; quite the contrary, that's where the journey begins.

During one of my shamanic trainings, we traveled through space and time, through all incarnations, with the intention of reclaiming our medicine, dissolving black magic, accompanying ourselves in death, and retrieving lost soul fragments. Since I had already known and worked through many of my past lives, my journey began where others leave off, at the very beginning of this human cycle.

Grandfather Time has his own unique way of teaching us; he doesn't speak in words, but lets you experience it. An experience that is difficult to describe with words. Time doesn't exist in conscious space; everything is present. We don't actually go anywhere when we travel, whether to the upper or lower world, to other dimensions or other universes. Everything can be experienced in the here and now, just as we ourselves are.

The beginning of this cycle opened a portal for me. At that moment, I wasn't traveling through my incarnations in previous cycles, but back three trillion years to the moment I first thought a conscious thought. It was dark all around me; I lay sheltered in the darkness within an infinite expanse that surrounded me—a black hole in the universe. I opened my eyes of consciousness, my eyes of awakening—not that I had eyes in any physical or human form—and I gazed through a portal, an exit into one of the universes. I saw millions of stars twinkling and shining on the other side, planets, and vibrant life. That was where I wanted to be, together with the other luminous beings, and so I left the sheltered womb of Pachamama, the cosmic mother, and joined the other stars in space.

I don't know how much time passed while I was there, as time is something earthly. Cosmic consciousness is timeless, since we are immortal. Those who inquire further will receive an answer, but fundamentally, it's irrelevant. Even if we have a birthday, a moment in the calendar when we were born, we are born from pure consciousness and are a part of it. We can reconnect with it at any time and witness all the events that have ever occurred.

In one of these momentous occasions, I spoke with Wakan Tanka, the Great Spirit. Many of us looked down upon planet Earth, curious, amazed, perplexed. I, for one, didn't understand what happened to my brothers and sisters as soon as they set foot on this planet. So much suffering, sorrow, and cruelty—how could they forget who they were?

I said to Wakan Tanka, "I want to go there and bring my love to Earth as pure consciousness." Wakan Tanka looked at me and asked, "Are you absolutely sure that's what you want?" "Yes!" I replied, "I could never forget who I am." My love was enough to encompass ten universes and their inhabitants. And so began my journey, a journey in which years, lives, and cycles were counted.

Our consciousness is not earthly; this planet provides us with a physical body to inhabit. What we then do with it is entirely up to us. Some come to Earth to experience themselves through interaction with all emotions, including, or rather especially, those of a difficult nature, such as grief, pain, and suffering. As pure universal consciousness, we know everything, are familiar with everything, are one with everything, and live in timelessness in a state of all-encompassing harmony.

Coming to Earth is a welcome change. The mere experience of having one's own body, one's own space for thoughts and experiences, of being able to experience oneself in one's own body inevitably brings with it an illusory, temporary separation. I say illusory because we can reconnect with the universal soul and ourselves at any time. Because of the behaviors that have developed over many cycles of humanity, we have become increasingly alienated from ourselves and have begun to populate and nourish the shadow worlds. This, too, is an experience.

If you consider everything I say from a cosmic perspective, you can breathe a sigh of relief, as it removes the heaviness from everything. You can change your life and your journey at any time, and it becomes especially easy when you invite yourself to do so—your primal essence, your higher consciousness, your star essence.
